Help us keep our waterways safe for people and planet!
Over the course of 2026, ECOllaboration, in partnership with Ten Little Pieces, is hosting four big days of beach clean ups at various Maroochy River Mouth sites to reduce litter and marine debris across one of the Sunshine Coast’s most popular and heavily recreationally trafficked coastal zones.
Protecting the Maroochy River Mouth is critical because it has incredibly high environmental and economic value, containing diverse aquatic ecosystems, holding cultural significance to traditional owners, supplying key drinking water sources and supporting recreational tourism.
In addition to creating cleaner beaches, we will also be collecting data on the types and quantities of rubbish collected. This dataset will be submitted to the Australian Marine Database Initiative which creates new plans and strategies to help prevent litter entering waterways at identified source points.
Our second event is at Maroochy Surf Club on Sunday 26th of April 7.30-9.00 am. All rubbish collecting and safety equipment will be provided.
Stick around for a free morning tea afterwards!
What to Bring
- Sunscreen
- Sun smart clothing (lightweight long sleeves and pants)
- Hat & sunglasses
- Water bottle (cold drinks will also be provided)
- Enclosed shoes

We are kicking things off with our first event at Maroochydore Rotary Park (Cotton Tree Park) on Sunday 22 March 7.30-9.00 am.
