John

After a 12-year career in the construction industry working as a carpenter, estimator and quantity surveyor, John decided to change his career path and move into the environmental sector. He started at ECOllaboration as a Conservation and Land Management Cert1 trainee while finishing his degree in environmental management. Once finished, he spent some time working in the field and was quickly able to transfer his previous industry experience into a project management role. John currently manages our major projects which involves large scale revegetation’s, environmental offsets and delivering rehabilitation plans across a variety of ecosystems across the coast.

Steph

Meet The Team

Steph

Steph joined ECOllaboration after a 15-year career in administration and Medical Practice Management. She holds a Diploma of Practice Management, a Certificate IV in OH&S, a Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping and is currently studying a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology. This experience aids her role as Project Support – Operations & OHS. 

Steph’s role is to oversee the organisations health and safety management system and ensure that the quality, accuracy and consistency of our policies, processes and systems reflect ECOllaboration’s ongoing ISO accreditation in Quality Management Systems, Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems and Environmental Management Systems.

Mal

Meet The Team

Mal

Mal is an experienced Project Manager in conservation, land management, catchments & landscapes. 

He is currently working in partnership with Seqwater and private landholders to increase sustainable land practices and reduce water hazards in the South Maroochy Catchment. Mal is also developing business models within the environmental sector, through collaborative partnerships. 

Mal has previous experience in research and development, education and training (sustainability, conservation, horticulture) regional management and social enterprise.

Trevor

Meet The Team

Trevor

Trevor is our Community Engagement & Education Officer and assists with the coordination of citizen science projects across the Sunshine Coast in addition to facilitating school field trips.  Volunteer groups include River Patrol (capturing rubbish in the Maroochy River), Water Monitoring (testing the quality of rivers and creeks connecting to Maroochy River), Platypus Watch and Frog Monitoring.  As a former secondary Geography teacher, Trevor also utilises his knowledge of the curriculum to teach local students about the importance of our natural environment.

Sandy

Meet The Team

Sandy

After working as a Medical Scientist in Brisbane for many years, a career and lifestyle change saw Sandy moving to the Sunshine Coast and completing a Master of Environmental Education. She has now been working for ECOllaboration (previously Maroochy Waterwatch) for over 20 years. During this time she’s had a number of roles, including coordinating the Paynter Creek Catchment Care & rehabilitation project; project managing an endangered frog project; liaising with Main Roads to have catchment signs placed along roads to demarcate a range of catchment boundaries in the region; fund raising and business development; coordination of the Sunshine Coast Qld Environmentally Sustainable Schools Initiative Hub; undertaking a Steward’s of the Future research project for Council and managing the development and running of our Eco Education Service for the last 8 years. Sandy and her husband have been restoring the riparian area of the creek near where they live for the last 20 years.
