code of conduct
Setting clear expectations to ensure our projects and services are carried out in a safe, respectful and inclusive manner
This Code of Conduct applies to all volunteers and project partners (‘you’ or ‘your’) of ECOllaboration (‘us’, ‘our’ or ‘we’). It outlines ECOllaboration’s expectations regarding your behaviour towards colleagues, supervisors, the community and the overall organisation.
This Code of Conduct is designed to provide you with a summary of the basic expectations that apply to you when working with us. Depending on your role with ECOllaboration, we also have more extensive policies and procedures in place that will apply, which your Reporting Officer or Project Manager will help you familiarise yourself with. Those policies will take precedence over this Code of Conduct.
– You will uphold the professional image of ECOllaboration and carry out your role in a manner that is ethical, safe and reflects positively on us.
– We aim to be an organisation that is free of any form of harassment, unfair discrimination, or fear. As such, you should always ensure that your behaviour with staff, stakeholders and the public is professional and appropriate;
– Any unreasonable and inappropriate workplace behaviour, including bullying, excessive gossiping, physical and/or psychological behaviour, that intimidates, offends, degrades, insults, or humiliates a worker, stakeholder, or member of the general public, whether in private or in front of colleagues, clients or customers will not be tolerated;
– We will also not tolerate the following under any circumstances:
- sexual harassment of any kind;
- discrimination against an individual based on personal attributes such as race, gender, age, religion, sexual preference or disability;
- behaviour that is illegal, misleading, threatening, defamatory, discriminatory, hateful, obscene, profane, graphically violent or pornographic or which incites violent or dangerous activities;
- an act or omission that infringes or authorise the infringement of another person’s rights;
– You must not engage in activities which could bring ECOllaboration into disrepute;
– Particularly when interacting with the public whilst representing ECOllaboration, you must take care not to express any opinion that is inconsistent with our values or the standard of professionalism required by this policy (i.e. no hateful, inciteful, political, religious or otherwise overtly controversial views should be presented);
– You must not consume alcohol or use drugs, except for legitimate medical reasons (in which case you must notify your co-ordinator if prescribed medication is likely to affect your behaviour and therefore work health and safety).
– You must:
-
- follow all safe work practices, procedures, instructions, and rules;
- act in a manner that ensures the health and safety of yourself and others and participate in the management of work health and safety;
- encourage other team members to act in a healthy and safe way;
- participate in safety training and first aid training programs where required;
- report hazards, or hazardous practices, to your co-ordinator; and
- use the safety equipment and personal protective equipment provided.
To help us ensure a safe, professional working environment, please ensure you promptly report any known, suspected or observed violations of laws, regulations, this Code of Conduct or supporting policies of which you become aware, to your co-ordinator.
